Shurley Grammar
Targeted Instruction: Grammar Only
Shurley Grammar is a unique tool, specifically designed to help students master the parts of speech and sentence structure. Students learn definitions for the parts of speech through jingles that incorporate rhythm, rhyme, movement, and fun. Then, they are introduced to our well-defined system of classifying sentences known as the Question and Answer Flow. Through word analysis, students gain a better understanding of the parts that make up a sentence. With this basic grammar foundation in place, students are introduced to a clear, structured method for writing sentences that provide for clear, precise communication.
Digital Classroom
The Digital Classroom contains everything one classroom needs to complete the school year using Shurley Grammar. The Digital Classroom includes 20 Digital Student Books and Digital Teaching Materials for one teacher. In order for the teacher to take full advantage of our numerous digital enhancements, we provide a Digital Teacher's Manual, a Projectable Student Book, and SEDA.
The comprehensive Teacher's Manual includes everything teachers need to plan, manage, and implement Shurley Grammar. The Teacher's Manual includes instructional routines and scripted lessons for intensive grammar instruction.
The Projectable Student Book is a great tool to focus students' attention and save time. You may display lessons, complete Guided Practices, classify sentences, and model how to complete worksheets using an interactive whiteboard or standard whiteboard. Simply click the interactive "i" at the bottom of the screen to view the special content.
Within the Digital Teacher's Manual, teachers are given access to the Shurley English Digital Assistant: SEDA. With SEDA, you have the flexibility to change the way you deliver Language Arts instruction. The teacher may present each lesson, or the student may listen to prerecorded lessons. Teachers can use SEDA for blended learning, co-teaching, lesson preparation, and more. Students can use SEDA as a pre-teaching resource, a post-teaching reinforcement, and for continued learning while at home. Parents can use SEDA to stay on-pace with what is happening in the classroom and to provide accurate and timely reinforcement. SEDA is a wonderful resource that ensures continued learning at school and at home. (See full SEDA description here.)
Within the Digital Teacher's Manual, teachers may assign workbook pages to their students by utilizing the Shurley eWorkbook. Students may type, underline, or place dots directly on the eWorkbook page to complete their assignment. Then, the saved work may be retrieved and graded by the teacher. Now, both the student and the teacher know exactly where their assignments are located!
